The MA programme aims to equip people for teaching, research and/or professional practice in the area of Strategic Communication. As such, the programme offers a mix of highly conceptual courses as well as practical ones. Underpinning the entire course is an emphasis on Intercultural and International Communication and Gender and Social Justice. In order to be viable, it is proposed that the MA be modular in design. This will accommodate busy communication practitioners, as well as people with young families, for whom it may not be feasible working all day and then attending classes in the evening or taking extended leave from work. The degree will run for two years, with a minimum 60% of the time devoted to a combination of face-to-face interaction, guided/computer-assisted learning and coursework and the rest to a research or practical project.
